The Finance team at Blackboard works across the organization to shape and drive the overall direction of the company in line with the Finance priorities and vision set by our CFO. As trusted advisors to the Senior Leadership Team, we work with all Business units to align on key strategic objectives and help drive cross-functional execution of operational priorities.

As Finance and Strategy Manager, reporting to Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, you will play an integral role in the success of the group by not only being a strategic thinker but also using insightful data analysis to drive alignment and key decision making across the company. This is a high visibility role which will include interactions with key members of the Extended Leadership Team on a regular basis.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and managing cross-functional projects across the organization that help develop a path to our multi-year objectives including with a primary focus on margin expansion
  • Working with the rest of the Finance team to develop common dashboards and analytical resources and to support a culture of data-driven decisions and measuring of meaningful results
  • Evaluating business cases through the lens of KPIs and in alignment with key strategic priorities
  • Providing analytical support and judgement to new product rollouts including ROI
  • Review and improve current processes across all business lines 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of applicable professional experience, preferably in Finance, Consulting or Strategy
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Finance or Management or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with senior levels of management within Blackboard
  • Experience with strategic frameworks and corporate strategic planning processes
  • Ability to juggle and prioritize simultaneous assignments. Proven ability to anticipate needs and provide viable solutions with minimal direction
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and multi-task in a highly dynamic environment
  • Must be flexible, proactive, and a team player
  • Fluency in written and spoken English


Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Up to 7 years of applicable professional experience, preferably in Finance, Consulting or Strategy
  • MBA or master’s degree
  • Ability to perform financial modeling and related industry analysis
  • Background in or knowledge of a SAAS business along with familiarity with the dynamics of ed-tech industry as well as with education related technologies
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management needs within matrix organizations
  • Advanced proficiency and ability to work/coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines such as Product  Management, Product Development and other Corporate Functions
  • Experience with Hyperion, PowerPoint and any BI tool
