K-12 is a distinct market that will be served by this position. Blackboard provides K-12 web-based communications and personalized learning solutions. We provide the only K-12 communications suite that combines parent notifications, school websites, and a mobile app that’s custom designed for districts and schools. We deliver innovative learning technology that helps teachers adapt to new standards, blend, and personalize student learning, and deliver new digital learning experiences. We help over 20,000 schools and tens of millions of families succeed using technologies that support learning and enable meaningful online communication and collaboration among all members of the education community.

 

 

This critical role will report into the Senior Manager, Performance Marketing and orchestrate the demand engine for the company’s robust education technology solutions. This team markets to both clients and prospects to educate about our solutions. In K-12, these solutions encompass communications and classroom platforms. This team supports world-class sales and client support organizations and works closely with product experts to ensure our K-12 tools are brought to market.
 

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Strategizing, executing, tracking, and optimizing performance of integrated marketing plans that generate quality pipeline and move prospects through the sales cycle for Blackboard in the K-12 market. This includes monitoring performance and return on investment
  • Developing integrated demand generation programs that take prospects through a sequential journey through the sales process, from prospecting to the close of sale and beyond, including renewal/retention support delivering results in the form of sales and revenue
  • Coordinating with cross-departmental teams – including brand and creative, product marketing, digital marketing, inside sales, events, client retention, etc. – to execute campaigns that may be national in scope, or customized to specific regions or territories, account size, or targeted personas
  • Partnering with our product marketing, brand, and creative teams to guide the creation of marketing content (white papers, video, etc.) that is tailored to buyer personas and increases buyer engagement
  • Defining marketing segments that align with sales goals to deliver relevant, focused messages and programs
  • Tracking program results, measuring program success, and leveraging Salesforce to report metrics
  • Maintaining program budget and optimizing campaign and event strategy to deliver maximum return on investment
  • This role requires approximately 20% travel

 

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing or Communications
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant Marketing experience
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in performance marketing, lead gen, and or marketing strategy, preferably in the education and/or technology arena
  • Ability to travel at least 4-8 times a year (15-20%) for annual company conferences, national and regional events
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM
  • Experience strategizing and executing marketing programs and campaigns, including social media and email
  • Working knowledge of acceptable email delivery rates, open rates, click rates, etc.
  • Proficiency in database management and list segmentation
  • Well-organized, with demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and both short- and long-term planning skills
  • Ability to anticipate needs based on campaign and communication calendars
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and on an ad hoc basis with marketing managers and across departments
  • Flexible and able to accommodate and adapt to changing priorities
  • Adept at written and verbal communication
  • Able to accommodate other points of view and accept feedback
  • Accustomed to working within budget requirements and adapting as needed

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with the K-12 market
  • Experience within high tech or e-learning industry
