The Blackboard Global Client Experience Team works with clients to solve a wide variety of technology challenges. Using both industry standard and cutting-edge technologies our consultants develop innovative, custom solutions that extend, enhance, and integrate Blackboard’s enterprise products. Blackboard’s Technical Consultants work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and interface directly with clients daily, often on multiple concurrent engagements.



As Technical Consultant, you will work directly with Blackboard clients to identify, define, and implement complex system deployments and integrations within the Blackboard suite of products, including student information systems data integrations, product extension implementations, installations, upgrades, and high-availability architecture design and implementation.



Primary responsibilities will include:



Integration Responsibilities:

  • Documenting existing business processes and data flows
  • Translating business requirements for complex integration and implementation Blackboard technologies into implementation alternatives and provide approach recommendations
  • Translating recommended approach into technical requirements, specifications, and design for implementing Blackboard applications and integrating with other systems
  • Designing, setting up and configuring systems integration solutions including third-party authentication, inbound and outbound data integrations, based on business requirements and technical specifications
  • Researching and troubleshooting issues, providing technical support to client team as needed
  • Conducting structured technical mentoring, training, and workshops. Providing targeted knowledge transfer as needed



Deployment Responsibilities:

  • Implementing product extensions, such as authentication, accessibility, reporting, etc.
  • Planning and performing application conversions and migrations
  • Assisting in technical implementation planning in close collaboration with other project team members
  • Integrating Blackboard applications with other COTS software
  • Researching and troubleshooting issues, providing technical support to client team as needed



General Responsibilities:

  • Coaching and mentoring junior consultants
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of body of knowledge in area of practice
  • This role requires only occasional travel



The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a client-facing capacity
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience integrating, configuring, and troubleshooting SaaS systems
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Informatica or similar iPaaS tool
  • Working knowledge of SQL, ETL, and database design
  • Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX basic administration
  • Working knowledge of the Python programming and various scripting languages
  • Working knowledge of Git, or similar source code repository
  • Ability to work with various protocols such as:  HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, and REST
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), analytical, and consulting skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, excellent work ethic and drive, great interpersonal skills, team oriented, and demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with geographically distributed virtual teams and to build relationships with internal and external organizations
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills, and ability to manage expectations effectively when handling multiple assignments simultaneously with competing deadlines
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies as needed.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and mentoring skills
  • Flexible work schedule to meet client needs
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above



Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the education or knowledge management industry and e-learning technologies, including at least one year specifically with Blackboard technologies
  • Informatica Certification
  • SQL Server or Oracle Certification
  • Consulting experience
