As a Social Media Manager for K-12 Community Engagement, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of a social media strategy to support business priorities, showcase our brand, and complement our marketing campaigns. You will partner with the K-12 Product and Regional Marketing teams on the development of an editorial calendar to ensure social content aligns with all external messaging themes. You will draft posts, use simple design tools to create multimedia, and partner with the Creative Services team to create high quality content. You will be responsible for creating and presenting reports, benchmarking, and daily social media monitoring.    

 

 

A successful candidate will possess an understanding of content best practices across various channels and have an eye for consistency and quality. Additionally, a successful candidate will feel comfortable engaging in collaborative and productive conversations with K-12 district leaders, customers, and industry experts.

 

 

Primary responsibilities will include:  

  • Developing a social media strategy that aligns with marketing campaigns and market needs
  • Promoting our solution, products, events, and content
  • Building a robust presence across relevant social channels and platforms
  • Managing paid social media posts and digital advertising
  • Collaborating with fellow K-12 marketers, sales, product management, services, and other cross-functional teams as necessary
  • Growing a social community that creates a network of best practice sharing, collaboration, and Blackboard advocates
  • Ensuring our social presence plays a thoughtful role in all our marketing initiatives
  • Engaging with clients and prospects to support our brand and ongoing growth efforts
  • Conceptualizing social media posts including copy and visual elements
  • Scheduling and posting of social media content 
  • Using analytical tools to monitor and report on our social media presence and performance

 

 

The Candidate:  

Required skills/qualifications:   

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 
  • At least 5 years of social media and/or communications experience in a marketing or public relations capacity 
  • Experience developing social media content 
  • Strong attention to detail, focused on quality 
  • Collaborative individual with relationship building skills that generate enthusiasm and produce results beyond expectations  
  • Analytical orientation with strong attention to detail 
  • Strong written communication skills  
  • Independent, self-starter with strong prioritization, project management and coordination skills; and ability to excel in a fluid, cross-functional team environment 

 

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:  

  • Practical experience in the education market, K-12, or education technology 
  • Experience using social media management platforms and tools
  • A can-do attitude with passion and enthusiasm
