This role focuses on our Ally product, our revolutionary product that makes digital course content more accessible. As the accessibility of digital course content is becoming increasingly important world-wide, institutions must address long-standing and often overbearing challenges. As a member of our Product Development organization, you’ll work in an agile environment delivering industry-leading SaaS products and web service platforms. Software engineers work in a team environment, collaborating on the design, implementation and support of Anthology’s products.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Building, maintaining, and extending the regression suite written in TypeScript
• Helping developers verify code changes and bug fixes and helping investigate the root cause of issues found by clients
• Being part of the development teams to understand the business requirements and preparing automation scripts for testing 
• Cooperating very closely with software and site reliability engineers and helping build, maintain and monitor test environments
• Working in a scrum team responsible for developing and testing features and fixes for Ally
• Writing and improving the existing test suites for backend and frontend automation testing
• Collaborating with teammates and others to design solutions to complex problems
• Participating in agile planning and execution
• Contributing to the ongoing support and improvement of Ally
• Working with a variety of software development technologies, tools, and techniques (e.g. Scala, Typescript, Linux, Agile/Test-Driven Development, etc.)
• Developing a deep expertise in certain areas of the product to serve the primary point of contact for support and consultation

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

• Any relevant experience
• Interest in quality assurance and test automation
• Good abstract and critical thinking
• Basic knowledge of programming in Java/Scala/JavaScript/Typescript
• Understanding of Service Oriented Architectures and RESTful Web Service best practices
• Familiarity with behavior- and test-driven development using JUnit or TestNG

Preferred skills/qualifications:

• 0-2 years of relevant experience
• Experience executing manual test cases
• Hands-on experience with test case automation in Java/Scala/JavaScript/Typescript
• Command line scripting knowledge in Linux like environment
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, IAM, SQS)
• Knowledge of ElasticSearch, Kibana
• Experience with IntelliJ IDEA (or other IDE, like Eclipse)
• Experience with a version control system (Git, Perforce)
• Experience with a bug tracking system (JIRA)
• Build tools experience (Maven, Gradle)
• Experience with a continuous integration system and continuous delivery practices
