The Analytics Delivery Team is focused on advancing learning, fueled by data informed decision making. As Principal Technical Consultant on this team, you will support technical implementation of Anthology’s Blackboard Data and Blackboard Analytics Modules, Business Intelligence Suite for Higher Education. This position will have significant responsibilities associated with SQL query development as well as initial installation, configuration, customizations and upgrades of client’s Analytics environments.

A significant part of the company’s strategy is to expand the successful reach of client deployments of Anthology’s existing Analytics modules while expanding the breadth and depth of the current product line to incorporate other valuable academic and business management data sets incorporated into Analytics products.  In the Principal Educational Consultant position, we’re seeking a seasoned Higher Education professional with Learning Management Administrators, Enrollment Management, Student Success and Retention, or institutional management experience including use of institutional data and data systems in these roles.

A successful candidate will have strong experience in Higher Education across any focus areas such as Learning Management Administrators, Enrollment Management, Student Success and Retention or Institutional Management. The candidate will possess strong communication skills with the ability to be flexible in both language and culture to operate collaboratively in a variety of contexts in global regions and across educational platforms.

This position will have responsibility for leading implementation and consulting services for Analytics Learn, Student Management and Institutional Administration and Reporting Modules. The position will require some on-site work at client locations, but some of the work can be performed remotely.

The individual should have deep expertise in operations, workflows and best practices related to various aspects of the student life cycle within Higher Education institutions, including admissions, registration, enrollment management, retention, academic affairs and/or institutional research.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Managing implementation projects for the Analytics modules, guiding clients to successful deployment
  • Conducting meetings with customers
  • Working closely with clients to complete project requirements
  • Managing projects including defining requirements, managing resources, scope and communication tasks
  • Conducting on-site orientation and training sessions for clients
  • Providing timely communication and feedback to clients during projects
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of the implementation methodologies including continual development of engagement-related artifacts/methodologies contributing to Analytics overall implementation practice
• Acting as subject matter expert related to student analytics functionality and best practices and advising clients in design and use of the product
• Working with clients to create functional specifications related to application configuration and customizations and working closely with the Analytics technical consultants to determine appropriate design and solution options
• Working cooperatively with colleagues within Client Services to ensure successful completion of implementation and other consulting projects
• Working collaboratively with Product Development to provide input to product functionality, prioritization, and enhancement specifications
• Working collaboratively with the Sales team to provide sales consulting support as requested
• This role requires up to 50% travel including occasional international travel

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• 3+ years of experience in ERP Student Information Systems operations as well as workflows in Higher Education
• 1+ years of experience with at least one of the following Student Information Systems: Oracle Peoplesoft, SunGard Banner, or Datatel Colleague
• Strong oral and written communication skills and experience presenting to large groups; excellent client-facing skills
• Experience with reporting requirements for student information systems
• Ability to create functional specifications and communicate requirements to technical developers
• Ability to rapidly master end-user software and tie-back functionality to pre-deployment business rules and configuration choices
• Ability to work independently and pay precise attention to detail; complete deliverables in a timely manner
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including ability to understand information domains
• Flexible and adaptive
• Ability to work from home
• Experience documenting software requirements and project planning tools
• Collaborative self-starter
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally, individually with periodic supervision, and informally to achieve overall engagement objectives

Preferred skills/qualifications:

• Master’s degree
• Experience with one or more BI/Reporting tools
• Ability to write (or familiarity with) basic SQL queries from ERP databases
• Familiarity with Dimensional modeling methodology for data warehousing or other data warehousing initiatives institutionally
