This role focuses on our Ultra Platform, which provides students with a simple and intuitive learning experience that they can access anytime and anywhere. It’s a solution that’s continuously evolving to meet users’ needs, and we’re looking for someone to join the team and get deeply involved in the existing product code base, improving the quality and enhancing the functionality of the product.
 


As a member of our QA team, you’ll focus on providing support for test development and execution against Blackboard’s new feature and legacy system releases. As a Software Engineer in Test, you will create and maintain automation frameworks and testing tools.

 

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Developing the test strategy for features, incorporating the right balance of unit tests, integration/API tests, and UI tests
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining complex testing environments, performing all aspects of verification including functional, regression, load, and system testing as well as documentation
  • Working in a Scrum team focused on building functionality for Blackboard’s mobile applications 

 


The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in QA automation
  • Light experience developing test automation scripts for web applications
  • Light experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Webdriver and TestNG
  • Familiarity with Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • A technical understanding of database configuration and ability to write complex SQL queries
  • Light experience with one or more scripting languages like shell or bash
  • Light experience with REST APIs, JavaScript, XML, JSON
  • Familiarity with build environments like Jenkins, Docker and Mesos
